"David vs. Goliath"

these shark invested
waters. Chairman of

England Franchise
Association (NEFA)
meeting on Tuesday,
January 23, 6-9 PM.
DATELINE:
BURLINGTON, MASS.
Sometimes the
"Franchisee vs.
Franchisor"
relationship can
seem like "David vs.
Goliath". Both the
dwarf and the giant
often find it
challenging to
navigate these shark
invested waters.
Kevin Brough,
Chairman of the
North American
Association of
Subway Franchisees (NAASF)
will address this
topic at the
upcoming New England
Franchise
Association (NEFA)
meeting scheduled
for Tuesday, January
23 at the Marriott
Hotel Burlington
(Mass.) located at
the intersection of
Routes 128 and 3A.
The evening includes
a cocktail and
networking session
beginning at 6 p.m.,
dinner at 7 p.m. and
the presentation.
The entire business
community is urged
to attend.
Membership in the
NEFA is NOT
required.
Registration Fee is
$60 per person and

With more than
26,000 locations in
86 countries, the
SUBWAY brand is the
world's largest
sandwich franchise,
and has become a
leader in the
international
development of the
quick service
restaurant industry.
The NAASF is an
independent
franchise
association that has
over 12,000
franchisees as
members in North
America (US &
Canada). The NAASF
was founded eight
years ago on the
principles of being
representative and
accountable to all
Subway franchisees.
In recent years more
and more franchisees
have formed
independent
franchisee
associations to
enhance their
prospects for
success in a
franchised business.
A "franchisee
association" is an
independent
organization of
franchisees. It is
distinguished from
advisory councils or
other entities
sponsored or funded
by the franchisor.
NEFA is the trade
organization for
franchisors and
franchisees in the
region. The group
offers training,
networking and other
support to the
Franchise community.
In addition to
serving as Chairman
of the franchisee
organization, Kevin
Brough, is also a
Subway franchisee
with three stores in

It's annual

their mission
statement which
now reads
"Promoting the
responsible

well received at
our most recent
event on
September 19th,"
noted Interim

Attorney Kevin
McCarthy, who
maintains a
Cohasset,
Mass.-based law
practice focused
on franchise
law. He added,
"We are
energized by a
new sense of
purpose and the
growing numbers
who are joining
our membership
ranks. We look
forward to
expanding
participation
among both
regional
franchisors,
individual
franchisees and
service
providers s for
the industry."
In addition to
McCarthy, NEFA's
Board of
Directors
includes Jim

franchise
brokerage;
